New Zealand’s BDM’s now online

New Zealand’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched of a new Web site that offers online access to New Zealand’s historical birth, death and marriage records. The historic data available for you to search is limited so that information relating to people who might still be alive, can be protected.

Information available includes:

  • Births that occurred at least 100 years ago
  • Stillbirths that occurred at least 50 years ago
  • Marriages and eventually Civil Unions that occurred 80 years ago
  • Deaths that occurred at least 50 years ago or the deceased’s date of birth was at least 80 years ago.

Searches are free, and certificates can either be purchased as a digital image to be downloaded immediately, or as a paper certificate sent through the mail.

I am searching for the birth, marriage and death certificates of my great grand mother MARGARETTA JEANIE GLASSON (nee DIX), possibly born between 1865 and 1869. She may have been born in Christchuch. She married my great grandfather Herbert Arundel Glasson in Christchurch.
    Thanks & kind regards

Where will I get the time of birth information of my partner who was born in 1967 in a small hospital at Devenport, Auckland? I have wasted days calling up City Council, hospitals, libraries..but no one has been able to direct me. Please help.

There may not be a deliberate attempt to confuse but I assure you that you are successful beyond your expectations.
