On Thursday, June 23, 1932 the Rockaway Record reported that a new bakery was to be oppened on the following Saturday at Rockaway, New Jersey. One of the bakery operators was Leslie Carlyon.

TO OPEN SATURDAY IN POST OFFICE BUILDING

A new and modern bakery for Rockaway will officially open its doors to the general publicĀ  Saturday, June 25. Located in the block adjoining the Post Office the establishment will feature a complete line of baked goods fresh from the ovens daily and also carry the noted brand of Loft’s pure candies.

Leslie Carlyon and Wayne Orr, both well known young men of this place, will operate the bakery. The building has been redecorated throughout the interior and presents a most pleasing appearance. Scarcely anything in the line of baked goods will be omitted from the bakery’s everyday bill-of-fare. Only the best of material will be used in preparing the baked stuff for sale and freshness will be a feature. The proprietors assure the public that no stale goods will be found in their establishment at any time. Special orders will receive prompt attention, such as birthday, wedding and other cakes. The Loft line of candies are received fresh each week and priced at a most reasonable figure to fit anyone’s pocket.
