Mary Elizabeth Lockey (1919-2004)

Although Mary Elizabeth Lockey was the only child of Robert Lockey and Minnie Horler, both parents had children from previous marriages as is shown in her obituary published by  the Johnson Funeral Home, Lake Wales on Saturday, March 20, 2004.

Mary E. Graham, 84, of Lake Wales, died of respiratory failure on Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Lake Wales Medical Centers Extended Care Facility.

A native of Johnston City, Ill., she moved to the Lake Wales area 11 years ago from Mattawan, Mich. She was a retired accounts payable clerk for Gilmore’s Department Store in Kalamazoo, Mich. She was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Graham; a grandson, Timothy O’Brien; two sisters, Christina Decker and Grace Lockey; and a brother, Hubert Swift.

She is survived by her son, Robert E. Graham and wife, Marion, of Lake Wales; her daughter, Mary Diana O’Brien and husband, Terry, of Chicago; a sister, Lillian Loschetter, of Melbourne; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

However any family history researcher trying to decipher this obituary without prior knowledge of the family could be forgiven for becoming thoroughly confused.

For details of Mary’s ancestory and siblings see her entry at WeRelate the free public-service wiki for genealogy sponsored by the Foundation for On-Line Genealogy, Inc. in partnership with the Allen County Public Library.
